not keeping up

i am spending far too much time on twitter these days.. so much so, that i am neglecting to ever post here. it's not that i have nothing to say, because i do. a lot has happened since i left seattle. i've been traveling with my trusty companion jamie, who has been riding shotgun the entire tour. since my name is listed as the only driver on my car rental agreement, i am doing all the driving. by the time i get home, i can say that i drove an entire tour across america and canada. we saw denver through 10 degree temps. battled snow. out ran the cops. discovered orbs who come from the fourth dimension. had cupcakes brought to us by some very nice people. visited my friend jim in chicago, who has the worlds most meanest cat. took a ton of pictures. visited our friends at secretly canadian. saw the studio i might record my next record in. cried. laughed. shook hands with angels. came to the conclusion that i really don't care for canada, even though i met a lot of nice people at the shows. discovering our rental car has xm radio, missing home more than i could ever imagine. getting to see calvin and shane (who drove all the way from ohio), getting zero amounts of sleep. experiencing a high tolerance for everything. contemplating a whole foods and comfort inn tour support plan. eating when i could, and sometimes not at all. talking more in between songs. trying new and old songs out for the first time. there you have it. i'm sure i have left a lot out. there is still three more weeks of this tour left. a lot can happen between now and getting back home.

i saw the brooklyn show on friday. immensely moving. felt like i wrote the set list myself - everything i wanted to hear. and interested to see that you wrote about talking more between songs, because i was pleasantly shocked at your loquaciousness. oh - and i stole a record title for my photography website: www.rehearsalsfordeparture.com.

I caught both shows in Philly. They rocked Damien. Thanks for breaking out some old songs. You gotta come back here and play the chapel again!

Dude, I'm trying to make the Memphis show, don't know if I can, but I hope that one day I'll be able to shake hands with my favorite musician ever!

Be safe out there, especially in Memphis, they likes da meth!

thank you for playing 'the killer' at the doug fir. were you talking about the rouses point border crossing, near vermont? if so, i definitely agree with you about the odd surroundings.

I hope you enjoyed the cupcakes. Megin is a tremendous baker, I'm just a lousy driver and I don't know how well they survived the drive. I'm glad you got home in time for the birthday. Take care, Rebecca

If you find yourself in San Francisco and feel like stopping by the Twitter office to shmooz (is that a word?) and maybe play a few songs, let me know! I'm sure we'd love to have you!
